Matthew Pleasant is a journalist and Florida native. He graduated from the University of South Florida in 2007 and served as a fellow at the Poynter Institute’s summer program for young journalists that year. He has worked in South Louisiana, where his crime stories appeared in The Courier and its sister paper The Daily Comet. He now reports for The Ledger in his hometown of Lakeland, Fla.
